Vital Strategies 2024 Impact Report

Designing a digital annual report that brings together stories, services, and metrics in an engaging web experience.

CHALLENGE

Presenting a large volume of impact data and stories in a way that supported exploration, comparison, and understanding across multiple programs.

OBJECTIVE

I designed the report as an interactive, modular experience that surfaces key impact quickly while enabling deeper exploration through tabs, templates, and reusable content modules.

Building a Scalable Report System

Because annual reports evolve from year to year, the experience needed a flexible structure that could accommodate a mix of narrative sections, impact metrics, media, and feature stories without feeling fragmented. My design focused on creating reusable patterns that could support both the current report and future iterations.

This approach made the report easier to navigate while also giving the organization a stronger digital foundation for recurring annual storytelling.

Healthcare workers in white coats examining a young child held by a woman wearing a headscarf in a clinical setting.
Webpage section discussing slowing the rise of noncommunicable diseases through policy advocacy, highlighting Brazil's 2024 health tax reform targeting unhealthy products.

Balancing Metrics and Human Stories

The report needed to communicate impact holistically, showing not only what Vital Strategies achieved, but why the work mattered. The experience was designed to move between large-scale metrics, service offerings, and human-centered stories in a way that felt clear and connected.

Rather than separating proof from narrative, the design treated them as complementary parts of the same story, helping visitors understand both scale and real-world relevance.

Impact statistics for 2024 promoting health including 600 media stories on Brazil's alcohol tax campaign, 47,500 tobacco violations in six countries, 500 cancer cases identified in Cambodia, and 255,000+ signatures for Kick Big Soda Out of Sport campaign.
